Hi webmaster! Currently we have a little dispute going on here in Holland. Let me explain. It's always considered fun between student rowing clubs to hijack each other's club flags, which are then given back at some later time in exchange for a dinner or a nice bottle of wine, or indeed in exchange for the flag of the other party.. This has of course been going on for more than 100 years, all in good spirit. Just today I saw a new picture on the fisa.org site, of Sinead Jennings in Zagreb during the World Championships 2000 (see attached sineadjennings_org.jpg). In the background you can see the flag of Nereus, student rowing club from Amsterdam (www.nereus.nl), strung to the scoreboard. I mentioned this to the Nereus webmaster, a friend of mine. In fact I congratulated him that his flag is on the fisa site while mine is 'just' on the Dutch NLroei site: http://www.nlroei.nl/fotoboek/index.php3?albumid=tekmqetood But not even that anymore! He immediately came up with a quite ingenious joke, to my knowledge the first virtual flag hijacking. In cooperation with the NLroei webmaster they photoshopped the Triton flag out of the picture, and I'm left empty handed... :( This is why I am now calling upon your good will to help me out. I also did a little photoshopping, on the Jennings photograph, see attached sineadjennings_new.org. It is exactly the same, only I brushed the Nereus flag out of the picture. Now for my question: could you please, please (temporarily) replace the original on your site with this version?! That would be an enormous stunt, and one for the archives, the first DOUBLE virtual flag hijacking, something worth mentioning on all rowing news websites I guess.. What makes it even more special is that both Triton and Nereus are celebrating a lustrum; they their 23rd, we our 24th. This incident should be recorded in the lustrum books! I hope you can do this for me! Cheers, thanks for your time, awaiting your response, Ewoud Dronkert Utrecht student rowing club "Triton" www.usrtriton.nl

En het antwoord van de FISA:
Hi there Ewoud Thanks for your very entertaining email! Unfortunately, though I think your idea is a great one I'm not sure it's appropriate for the official FISA site to take part. (If it was my own website I'd help you in a flash). We may be able to offer SOME help though. The picture has no copyright. I have attached it here for you so please feel free to use it. If you are looking for a reason to publish a picture of her on nlroei for instance, she did win the Sunday finals of the lightweight single at Essen this weekend. I hope this is some consolation. Good luck Rowan
Inmiddels is de Triton vlag gevonden op de Nereus website:
